Audience Response

I asked the rest of my media class to watch our film, write a couple of things they thought about it on postit notes and to fill out a questionnare. I didn't film them because I didn't want to put them under pressure so I watched them myself. I heard them comment "this is so confusing" and they all burst out laughing during the lawyers scene which is brilliant because that's the reaction we wanted!

'Misplaced' is on YouTube!

I finally managed to upload it to youtube, it took over 3 hours! I think it was because the file was just over 1GB. The reason why I couldn't get it up any sooner was because I was trying to convert the movie file from a 'DV Movie' to a MPEG-4, a file type that I found that is recomended by Youtube Help. But in the end my converting programme wasn't working and there wasn't a way I could access another programme fast, so this morning I took a chance with uploading our video how it was, it took a long time but it worked!

And just incase the one I uploaded straight onto here doesn't work, here is the one from youtube! And here's the link incase this doesn't work either.

Where is our film?

We thought it would be great to have our film viewed world wide, so we have decided to create a youtube account and upload it onto there. I think youtube it great, I use it for my own personal use, what I like about it is that any one any where can watch anything they want/find. You can comment and have your videos commented on, disable people commenting on your video if you don't wish to have people comment, you can rate and have your videos rated up to 5 stars.

Our Youtube account is called LaurenandKyleA2 and our short film should be up there soon.

Here is our short film, 'Misplaced'.

Final Poster

Kyle has finished the poster and it looks great!

This is quite similar to the 'Lost' poster with the smoke effect and the dark, dull colours.

Finished Editing

We finally finished editing. We spent a lot of time playing around with the picture quality, colours and sounds and I think we have the best result we can get. Once we have uploaded we will show it to an audience and ask for their opinions and criticism, so if needed we will edit to improve for their needs and upload a second version.

We loved the outtakes, so we decided to make a video dedicated to our actors by embarrassing them as a thank you for being in our film!

Improving our film

Today we got a bit side tracked from recording our radio advert and instead we improved our 5 minute film. We added instrumental music to project the mood, like for the advert we added silly/sea side music for humour. For the scene with the 'Hello Kitty', we've added some really intensive music to get the audience on their toes. I think it is much better with the music, I think the music has added more emotion into our film, because the acting was so poor.

Playlist to our film:
"Delta Fog" composed by Hugh Pool and Scott P. Schreer
"The Last Battle" composed by Patrick Smith

Thinking

Me and Kyle have been discussing ideas for the radio advert, we have decided that we will be recording some lines on thursday for testing. Kyle has also started writing a review page, just incase we don't get the radio advert done in time. I've seen what he has written so far and the language he has used is very similar to a critics view.

Radio Advert

I've been thinking more about the radio advert and my teacher has suggested that I can use some sound recording equipment at school, but this causes some problems with the person I want to use (my Dad) because he is not able to come in to school to record, so we'll have to look for someone else to be the voice for our radio advert.

I really want the advert to be a bit like 'The Simpsons' movie adverts, because the narrator is really dramatic, then the tense music stops and Homer sings "Spider Pig" which breaks the mood and brings humour in. I'll need some intense music that I can find at http://freeplaymusic.com/.

I've been writing some things down that I would like said in the advert. After each line I would like a pause so I can play around with what order they will be and I have a choice to get rid of them too.

Here are some ideas:

"Experience the most wild and confusing adventure of a life time"

"From the people who didn’t understand 'Lost'"

"Test your mind with 'Misplaced'"

I'd also like some quotes from the film, to end the advert I'd like to have the quote where Jack says "What the F-!"

Editing that last little bit!

Me and Kyle uploaded and edited our last scene with the stairs in today. I looks really good, but the scene after where they are talking about the flash back is too casual, it breaks the humour from the flash back. If we could film again we'd have our actors be more dramatic about it.

Kyles Posters

Kyle has been working on designing posters, from the photos we took for our film. He's made 2 and they all look really good, he has really made them look similar to the Lost poster. I like how he has developed them with editing the lighting and contrast.

Filming that last little bit!

This afternoon I filmed the scene where the character Jack falls down the stairs. Unfortunately Kyle couldn't be there because he lives far away, but I managed well with out him. We filmed at Jonnys house because his stairs are perfect, he has a open stairs with a wooden railing and made it easier to film. I got a few shots of Jonny (playing Jack) walking towards the stairs and beginning to fall. For the falling down the stairs I couldn't have the actor actually fall and roll down it himself so I filmed it in a point of view way and held the camera and rolled it around down the stairs. Then I got a couple of shots of Jonny laying at the bottom of the stairs, I panned from him to Tom (playing the lawyer). I created a website for 'Lawyers that Sue for Gold' just as a little extra and to get the audience interactive with our film and Kyle's going to edit it and add a bit more for humour.

I took a couple of photos for the website:

Extras

I've desperately been trying to film the flash back scene for the film, unfortunately I haven't been able to get hold of a camera because of all the days off due to snow. But today I now have a camera and my actors are available to film tonight. Me and Kyle have talked about the radio advert and what should be said in it, I brought up the point of who will be the voice for our advert and I suggested my Dad. I asked my Dad if he would like to do it and he said yes, I'll record the advert a few times and get him to try different voices so we have a range to chose from.
